Collection is the first link in the chain of custody, so we do it ourselves. Our engineers arrive in Your Tech Centre vehicles, record serial numbers and asset tags before anything moves, and pack every item for transit.

IT asset audit

Every item accounted for, before and after it moves.

An audit is how you prove nothing went missing. We record each device at your site or on arrival, match it to your asset list, and flag anything that doesn't reconcile, so your records can be closed off cleanly.

The audit also tells us what each item is worth, which decides whether it is erased and resold or destroyed and recycled.

Data removed to NIST SP 800-88, then proven.

Software erasure keeps the drive and the device reusable, which is why it comes before shredding. Each drive is tagged, connected to our controlled wiping environment and sanitised with Blancco, the industry-standard erasure software, to NIST SP 800-88.

Every wipe is verified, then a tamper-proof certificate is issued for that serial number. Drives that fail are moved straight to shredding.

When the policy says destroy, we shred.

Some drives can't be wiped and some security policies won't allow it. Physical destruction gives the highest level of assurance. Drives are shredded to MOD destruction standards, with hole-punching available for permanent damage.

Every drive is logged by serial number before it's destroyed and checked afterwards, then listed on your Certificate of Destruction.

Reuse beats recycling. Once wiped, working equipment is tested, repaired, cleaned, graded and photographed, then sold through retail and trade channels in the UK and overseas. The value comes back to you as a rebate.

Recycling and metal recovery

What can't be reused is recovered, not dumped.

Equipment that has reached the end of its life is broken down to material. Cable is granulated, chassis are separated into steel and aluminium, and circuit boards go for precious-metal recovery. Nothing goes to landfill.

How does the instant valuation work?

Film your kit on your phone and send it through our video valuation page, video call us and show us the kit, email us a list, or describe it on the phone. We tell you what it's worth there and then. The figure is confirmed when we audit the equipment on collection, and if anything is different we tell you before we pay.

Where does my equipment actually end up?

Your ESG report lists every serial number and its outcome: resold, recycled to material, or shredded and recycled. You can see exactly where each item went, and what it saved in carbon.

Your Tech Centre was formerly part of Technimove Recycles Ltd. We now trade as YTC Ltd, with the same experience and standards.

Should my drives be wiped or shredded?

Wiping with Blancco to NIST SP 800-88 removes the data and keeps the drive usable, which means more resale value and less waste. Shredding is right when a drive has failed, can't be wiped, or your policy requires physical destruction. Most clients wipe what they can and shred the rest.

What does the asset audit include?

Every item is scanned for serial number, asset tag, make and model, and data-bearing drives are logged separately. We match it all against your asset list and report anything missing or extra, so your register can be closed off.

What paperwork will I get?

A collection manifest, a full asset register, an erasure certificate per drive or a Certificate of Destruction, waste transfer notes and, if you want it, an ESG report.

Can you destroy drives at our premises?

Yes. We can shred on site with your staff watching. Serial numbers are recorded first and a Certificate of Destruction is issued afterwards.

Who actually collects the equipment?

Our own engineers, in Your Tech Centre uniform and our own vehicles. We don't hand your kit to third-party couriers.

Do you handle network equipment and phones?

Yes. Switches, routers and firewalls are reset with configs, credentials and keys cleared. Phones and tablets are erased and tracked by IMEI.

Will I get money back for my equipment?

Often, yes. Kit with resale value is refurbished, graded and sold, and the return is offset against your costs or paid as a rebate.

Is there a minimum quantity?

No. We collect anything from a single box of laptops to a full data centre, anywhere in the UK.
